Assessment of components of university educational environment (through the example of INRTU)

Abstract:

The article is an attempt to provide a comprehensive assessment and analysis of the components of a university educational environment through the example of Irkutsk National Research Technical University (INRTU). Highlighting content-methodological, communicative-organizational, spatial-semantic components as key ones, the author assesses all the components of the educational environment of a university during a number of sociological studies (N = 385, quota sample) conducted by means of questionnaires and interviews from May 2019 to May 2020. As part of a comprehensive study, participants of the educational process graded the organization level of various areas of training, effectiveness of the forms of the educational process, level of importance of scientific, educational, social, creative, sports activities, contribution of educational environment and educational process on creation of his or her own identity (value orientations; sources of motivation to achieve desired goals; traits shaped in the learning process), the nature of communicative interaction in the university (interaction with teachers), and at the external level (industrial work plac ement, international cooperation), teamwork skills ( personal qualities for teamwork, team cooperation skills), level of formation of the spatial component (compactness of location of INRTU buildings, the presence of its own campus, degree of comfort of the environment for training), as well as University symbolic characteristics (logo, etc.) on a 5-point scale.
