Abstract:

Despite the fact that an inclusive policy is being implemented in Russia in the direction of overcoming obstacles to the integration of people with disabilities into the labor sphere and into society as a whole, nevertheless, their labor potential remains completely unclaimed, and the chance to get prestigious jobs is reduced not only due to objective reasons, but also manifestations of prejudice on the part of potential employers. The purpose of this article is to analyze the current state of the problem of employment of persons with disabilities in our country, as well as modern foreign experience in promoting their employment. The main methods used in the work were comparative analysis, secondary data analysis, and statistical data analysis. The information base of the research was made up of scientific works of Russian and foreign authors on the problem of vocational rehabilitation and employment of disabled people, statistical data from the Federal Register of Disabled People, the All-Russian database of Vacancies and resumes, the Federal Service for Labor and Employment; the results of sociological research aimed at identifying the problems faced by people with disabilities when entering the labor market and in the process of working. The most important ways to increase the level of employment of disabled people of working age are proposed in order to attract them as additional labor resources for the country’s economy, and to improve the level and quality of their life.
