Features of translation as the secondary type of speech activities from the perspective of psycholinguistics

Abstract:

The article considers the concepts of «speech activity» and «translation» from the perspective of psycholinguistics. It provides various viewpoints of scientists on this issue. The authors emphasize the psychological nature of such type of speech activity as translation, describe the features of this type of speech activity and psychological difficulties in translation that lie in switching from the system of the source language to that of the target language. Special attention is paid to the description of the creative translation which is characterized by the process of generation of meanings at the deep layer. It is concluded that translation due to its complexity and specificity combines the internal mechanisms of the receptive and productive types of speech activity.
