Features of gender stereotypes of female service members: the case of young female service members of Irkutsk and Angarsk cities)

Abstract:

The article is concerned with the description of gender-specific services of modern Russian women in the armed forces of the Russian Federation from the viewpoint of stereotyping. The sociological survey was conducted using the method of semi-structured interviews in military units of Irkutsk and Angarsk. Both female and male service members were interviewed to examine the problem in an integrated manner. The authors point out that female service members face limitations of career development related to gender stereotypes. Fortunately, they take this situation for granted without feeling discriminated against.
