A flagship university as a structural element of the higher education system

Abstract:

The article considers the role of higher education as an element of the structure of the national innovation system. The concept of «innovation» is defined in relation to the knowledge society formation. The prerequisites for structural transformations in the higher education are analyzed. The flagship university is described as one of the types in the structure of higher education.
