Abstract:

The article discusses issues that allow to form an idea of the role of the ability to manage individual time by students during the period of adaptation to the conditions of study at a university. The possibilities of successful educational and professional adaptation of freshmen in the presence of formed time management skills are described. The article presents the results of a study carried out among first-year students of the Nizhny Tagil State Social and Pedagogical Institute, the purpose of which was to determine the conditions for their successful adaptation to university studies. It was found that the presence of formed skills of managing their time allows young people to avoid difficulties in passing intermediate certification. The development (improvement) of such personal qualities and abilities as responsibility and dedication is indicated as the individual results achieved in the first year of study by students with time management skills. The assessment of the first year of study in the new conditions is different for students with different levels of ability to manage their time. The academic year turned out to be eventful and interesting to a greater extent for those young people who do not experience difficulties in managing their time. While students who could not always effectively manage such a resource noted that it was difficult for them to study at a university and assessed the past academic year as follows – «The academic year was difficult for me, studying at a university is not an easy task».
